It's a site where you can design your own website.

Short term - nothing new to see here, move along

Mid term - finally money and expertise to start doing some long needed and overdue improvements around here. Server maintenance and upgrade would be towards the top of the list seeing how often there have been delays loading pictures, pages not loading, and other signs that the site is being overtaxed by it's users. Depending on just how obvious some of the more glaring errors are, improvements in search engines, submissions, restoration of customization for Premium (sorry Core) members beyond just token cute orange symbol and gee you could try out something for us (but we'll only listen if you tell us how great it is)

Long term - a functioning mobile site, new more modern look/feel for submissions and site as a whole, new customization options, more rational admin staff - as WIX has a much wider global perspective than the Hollywood DA staff. (Shockingly the so called "liberal" left of the US can come up with some weird ideas in the name of Political Correctness, that would seem more at home on the far conservative wing of public opinions.) And maybe some long overdue improvements, beyond just changing the names, or something cosmetic.

For the users, I doubt we'll see much very soon, unless the new crew finds that things were in more disrepair than we've been lead to believe. Harder to say where they plan to go longer term. Clearly Wix saw something they wanted. But publically, their not talking just yet.

So DA will be like a Art station in the functionally perspective?

Can't legitimately answer that one having seldom used Art Station.   Note: just found something that might give a better idea of what to expect doodlesbyheart.wixsite.com/hom… as found an actual DA user who has a Wix page.

It wouldn't necessarily be a totally bad thing, but I have my doubts though. The few times I've visited Art Station before, it seems intended more for people wanting to keep a professional level resume online, searching for images was dubious at best, and it definitely wasn't fan/amateur friendly.

Popped over just for a few moments, and I can see things have changed. Search engine appears to be more functional. Interface seems awkward, but that might be just due to browsing being not a member or unfamiliar lay out. Some of their steps don't quite seem as intuitive but again that might be just lack of familiarity. However becoming a member is DEFINATELY casual user unfriendly requiring that "ArtStation requires that users verify the authenticity of their accounts by authenticating with Facebook, LinkedIn, or via SMS text messaging".

Claiming to be: the leading showcase platform for games, film, media & entertainment artists, I think the knock of only for industry insiders or hoping to get a job within the industry may still be deserved. Gut reaction: it doesn't appear very fan friendly - more of a resume / audition site for those wanting to break into the computer art business.

I am with you that Art Station is more intended for people wanting to keep a professions lvl , is not amateur friend, that is what i am reading in the comments here in DA with this WIX/Deviant situation, they want more quality and ban the amateur/friendly stuff :(

I would say that would be true of Art Station.

As for Wix, I would say more along the lines of that page I showed you in the other comment. Not so much that they would be unfriendly to amateur or new artists and fans. But I would expect them to stop going after the under 18 market (that DA mistakenly seemed to want and cater itself too), and instead focus more on people wanting to do art.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some more effective "Mature Content" controls to crack down on the sexting and more obvious adult images posing as "boudoir" photography.

I think most of the "panic" here on DA will be due to that less mature crowd imagining potential actions. Aside from small changes, and perhaps an elevation in the targeted age of members, I doubt Wix would buy something like this to radically change it. They WANT something from the site, not to drive off everyone.
